A major development to report from the set of NBC's Heroes: EW.com has learned that co-executive producers Jeph Loeb and Jesse Alexander, two of the show's most instrumental writer/producers, are leaving the three-year-old series. Their departure comes at a watershed moment for Heroes, which has taken a serious hit in the ratings amid complaints by critics and fans alike that the show has lost its zeitgeist-tapping appeal. The drama is averaging 9 million-plus viewers this season, down from last year's 11.6 million average.
Loeb and Alexander are celebrities in their own right among the fanboys. Loeb is an author of many comic books, including Batman, The Hulk, and Superman For All Seasons, which inspired the creation of Smallville. Loeb joined the then-WB drama in its second season. Alexander was previously a co-exeutive producer on Lost and Alias. It's unclear whether Heroes creator/executive producer Tim Kring will replace the two writer/producers.

WTF!?!?! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! If they leave will Heroes be better or worse!?!?!?
well it cant get any worse lol
I'm pleased. The show desperately needed a shakeup--this season has been far too complicated and strange for casual viewers. I love it, hardcore fans like us love it, but everyone else I know is getting more and more turned off by it.
Well Heroes (as other series who has a direct continuity in episodes and storylines) is now appealing only to a niche market of fans who followed it from the beginning. It's pretty damn hard for a newcomer to start at season 3. As I fan I personally believe they are headed back on the right track (after a pretty ordinary second season), but I can really see how an outsider who never heard about it might have some troubles to jump in. It's way easier to jump in a show where every episode are independant of each other. In Heroes, everything is connected. Heck they even make references to Season 1 and 2. No wonder newcomers are confused. But the show does have a very big fanbase, so I believe they should optimise the episodes towards this fanbase instead of starting anew "a la season 1".
It was about time something like this would happen. I stopped watching the show at the third episode of this season. Everything was being recycled from the first season -which was the best by the way- and being thrown at us again. Just like Prison Break.
the the freck are you talking about? was there a SCYLLA in prison break season 1? were there CARD HOLDERS in season 1? prison break season four ist just amazing!!! and awesome!! and its as great as the other 3 seasons because the people do this series with love!! sorry for offf topic lol
This is terrible news, these teo writers are good at what they do and are good about meeting fans etc.
I hope the show doesn't suffer for this.
I think this is the best series of Heroes yet, quite sad they are leaving.
I agree with Sk8PrO and the second anonymous. Only hard-core fans like us would love it. On the contrary, new comers would be confused and probably hate it. I love Heroes sooooo much. Sad to hear them leaving. :(
I love the current season a lot. I don't think they should leave, but if they wish to....
I'm kind of curious to find out, what's going to change in the upcoming volume....
I absolutely LOVED season 1. Season 2 was terrible. Season 3 is OK, but things are getting stale.
I think they do need to shake things up a bit to get things back on track
They should just kill the cast off and create a new cast. And start over. That way it is fresh for everyone AND newcomers can join in again.
"I don't think they should leave, but if they wish to.... "
If they wish two? They were both fired.
Er, "to" *
I too agree with Sk8PrO. and with Anonymous' comments "Only hard-core fans like us would love it. On the contrary, new comers would be confused and probably hate it."
I love Heroes a lot too. I loved Season 1, season 2 was ok (not that bad but slow)...and this season i love it...because i am always wondering wohat's next!!! and the actions are really good!!!Sad to hear they are leaving but hope it won't affect the show too much!
The show can't get any worse than it currently is.
Humm.. wonder if he'll be back on Smallville now.......
hummmmmm.......
